Blog
These five tips will help you maximize the effectiveness of your blog, increase clicks, return rates and eventually, your brand.
1. Get seen, be visible. Know how to use keywords and other SEO techniques to be on the top of SERPs (search engine results pages). If no one can find your blog whether intentionally, or by accident, nothing else matters. If a tree falls in the forest, but no one reads your blog, does it really exist?
2. Build your reputation. Through some of the following tips, we’ll show you how to build and maintain your blog’s reputation. Once you’ve used the right keywords and other techniques to be seen, you want to keep your readers and engaged and interested enough to return on a regular basis. The main way to do this is to build the reputation of your blog through the following techniques.
3. Keep it current. If a reader lands on your blog and finds content from last year, they can infer one or more things: You don’t regularly maintain your blog, nothing new is going on with your brand and/or company, you don’t have insight in to current trends or news, and worst, that you have abandoned your blog altogether. Posting regular content lets the reader know this is a living, breathing blog. Backdating is not the answer because the lapse in time can not be undone by uploading old content after the fact.
4. Keep it interesting. While it is important to regularly upload content, it is also important that the content is “read-worthy”. Talking about Bob-from-Accounting’s birthday is not “read-worthy”. Talking about how your vehicle was featured in the latest action flick is. If you’re bored typing it, they’ll be even more bored trying to read it.
5. Keep it interesting. Through varied content, links and allowing comments, your blog takes on life. When a reader lands on your blog, they see a wealth of information and activity, and this is what will keep them coming back and referring others to you.

Viral Sharing Websites
Taking advantage of viral sharing websites such as You Tube, Google Video, Live Leak and Job Jab would provide a potentially huge audience for marketing a product. If the video is particularly good it will be forwarded to other people and the amount of exposure is limitless.
Tags and categories can successfully raise your chances of being found on the Internet when posting your video when done properly and for marketing this can be very advantageous. By using the ‘similar videos’ box you can gain access to viewers who are viewing another video of similar style and content and yours will be in the sideline. People love to check out what is similar to what they are already interested in.

Blog
When starting out in an industry where the competition is plentiful, it is important to utilize all the marketing tools at your disposal, especially those that require little out-of-pocket expense. A blog can be the perfect tool for a start-up such as a hand-made jewelry company. There are gazillions of people out there making their own jewelry. Some are recreational designers, some want to build a successful brand. For the latter, a blog can be the perfect way to update readers on jewelry finds, inspiration and news.
If a jewelry designer is able to get a celebrity or other high-profile individual to wear their designs, a blog is a great way to broadcast that news. By using the appropriate tags such as “Nicole Kidman jewelry”, the blog could attract individuals conducting casual searches online. Those casual searchers could turn in to virtual window shoppers and, eventually, paying customers.

Tin Robby the Robot
For example, I am selling retro space toys. Many of them wind-up and in order to effectively show their movement a viral video would be a great tool to use for marketing. A short film of less than 5 minutes would be all I would need to talk about the products available and how the toys operate. It’s good to show something like this instead of just writing about them as they are very artistic and have a motion component to them.
The video has to move at a good clip, and more than one would be good so as not to pack too much information into one video. By posting the video on popular viral sharing websites the company would receive enormous exposure world-wide as long at it is categorized properly and can be easily found.

To effectively write for a blog make sure you start with using the right words in your title so that people can find you in a search.
Be brief and provide links, do not add too many keywords. Saying something in as few words as possible will get read more than something that is too wordy. Keep your audience’s attention.
Categorize and tag you post correctly and don’t overdo it on the categories.
Insert relevant images and videos to convey your message. Make sure they are large enough to catch someone’s attention.
Write about topics that are unique and interesting. Keep it fresh, current and compelling. Enjoy what you are writing about, it will come through in your blog.

As a marketing tool a blog can be used for public relations; press releases can be sent to people who already read your blog and you can get the word out to many people quickly and efficiently.
News releases can also be communicated through a blog. You could keep your client base up to date on the happenings in your company with just one communiqué. Videos can be incorporated or links to other pertinent sites for information. Vintage Depression Glass
Take an industry like Depression Glass selling. This type of product sales could be greatly enhanced by a blog because of the different types of Depression Glass that exist. Descriptions of each piece with images could explain what these items are and what they look like. Blogs are great for sharing information and collectors could share what they have run across and there could be some cross-selling going on.
If you were planning on exibiting Depression Glass at a vintage trade show this information could be shared in your blog and could reach many people without having to spend advertising dollars. Your booth would be filled with clients from just reading your blog.

Affiliate Marketing
Keep these 5 things in mind when engaging in Affiliate Marketing:
1. Respect the customer: Tactics such as spam or annoying pop-ups may seem like a quick fix and easy money. However, utilizing these tactics shows the customer that you don’t respect them or their time, and that communicates a negative company image. Never let a customer think you’re untrustworthy.
2. Choose Your Partners Wisely: Although affiliate marketing is relatively inexpensive, it still requires effort and cost, even if the cost is only realized in man-hours. It is better to plant seeds on ground that is sure to be fertile than to scatter them about in various locations hoping for a sprout or two. Be conscious and smart and your efforts will be maximized.
3. Listen to the numbers: Affiliate marketing will allow you to track the success of your program. If you offer a per-click program, you will be set up to count clicks. Establish a specific goal that will balance out the cost and investment of your affiliate marketing program. If your gains do no match up that goal, abandon that partnership or amend it to be more successful and profitable.
4. Stay on top of technology: You may not feel the need to graduate from your brick-sized cellular phone, but the world of technology, both personal and corporate, is progressing at warp speeds. These new forums often offer the most potential for rewards, but you have to be aware of the new trends to participate in them. In arenas such as the immensely popular iPhone apps (and other newer smart phones which now offer similar apps) there is a great wealth of opportunities for affiliate marketing.
5. The oldies are still good: While newer technology and trends offer great potential for growth, the traditional methods such as basic websites still offer great opportunities for beneficial marketing.

Affiliate Marketing
Two great ways to incorporate affiliate marketing in to your website’s marketing efforts:
Affiliate Marketing can be used as a partnered offer. In this style of Affiliate Marketing, a company creates coupons or other “deals” that are offered by an affiliate partner, where a certain benefit is seen by both parties. Oftentimes, the originating company will offer a cut of certain profits, or a per-coupon fee. The partner company reaps financial rewards and a possibly-broadened customer base because it is joined with the customer base of the orginiating company. A mutually beneficial program such as coupons and deals offers both companies a way to broaden a customer base while driving sales and clientele increases.
Affiliate marketing can also be achieved through linked sites. Your affiliate or partner can show your company’s information via pop-ups, embedded links or information and offers that appear via check out, etc. This way, the reputation of the other company also increases your own visibility. When partnered with like-minded partners, you’re ensured success.
