- One of the turning points of Internet Marketing was when Netscape went public (August 9, 1995) and popularized the World Wide Web by exploring its commercial potential. It paved the way for other companies to invest in Internet Marketing. Before then, no one really recognized the huge potential of the Internet as a marketing tool. Even Bill Gates and Steve Jobs publicly declared the impracticality of using the Internet as a marketing tool.
- Another important event in the history of Internet Marketing was the penetration of Broadband Internet (late 2001) in each household. This made browsing easier, and web companies began to develop more content on the Internet that eventually made online advertising more creative, informative, and far more relevant.
