- There are Many Keys To Success
In my opinion, there are three important aspects to a successful SEO press release. First is in the preparation. I would want to research which relevant key-words are being used by customers to get to sites like mine. I would place these keywords in the content of the press release, as well as in any video or images I include. The content is an important part, as well. It must be engaging to your reader and contain all relevant key words as well as secondary key words. Lastly, if the press release has been written in an SEO friendly style and is sent out through one of the major wire services, it has a much better chance of greater visibility, which can turn into a higher search engine ranking.

- SEO press releases benefit small companies
I own and operate a candle company that would benefit from an SEO press release. My company is under tremendous pressure because of the intense competition in the candle industry. To gain higher visibility for my candle company, I will participate in various charity events in my community. I also attend craft and art shows, and sell my candles there. I might use an SEO press release to announce one of my upcoming shows or events. In addition to getting my name out there, the SEO press release would serve to gain more exposure to the event, and in turn, more potential customers for me. After the event I could follow up with an article that would tie it all together and, subsequently send more traffic back to my site.

Medical Cannabis
My medical cannabis dispensary will have a website that informs patients about our products and services. It will be necessary for us to employ SEO friendly content in order to facilitate exposure both online and in the marketplace. As traffic to the website increases, a greater population will become aware of everything that we have to offer; as a result, there will be an increased customer base. Without SEO friendly content, my company’s website may not come up for popular keyword searches, and could prevent the right people from finding us when they need our services. The two reasons my company needs SEO friendly content is to improve sales and our public presence.

Article marketing involves posting keyword-focused articles on article distribution sites that then submit your content throughout their network. The reason this is an important website promotion technique is because some of these article sites have a significant readership following.
Most article submission sites allow you to post your content for free, however some of the paid ones can be more effective. Once published, your content becomes available for all to see, and ideally reuse. When done properly, articles you post on article sites can then become “link bait” for other sites. For example, let’s say you own a business that sells watches. If you or your web content writer write an article about purchasing a nice watch, others who may want to post a blog entry about watches may link to your article, getting increased exposure for your writing and your subject matter, especially if the article site gets a great deal more traffic than your own website, which is common.
Many article sites will allow you to include HTML links in your articles. You can then link your keyword phrase to the page on your website you’re trying to promote for that keyword. This is a highly effective search engine optimization technique so make sure you do adequate keyword research before you begin writing. Others won’t allow you to do that, but they’ll have no problem with you including links in your resource box (your profile or signature information used to let people know who you are), which adds important one-way backlinks to your website.
Even if you have to pay to have articles written for you, it’s fairly inexpensive to have a good article written by a knowledgeable writer. There are many freelance sites on the web that can help you find a writer for a low price. Therefore, article marketing can be a very cost effective means of website promotion for your home business.

Facebook is a great tool for connecting with customers and building your brand image. Its free and very easy to get started with a Facebook business page. Here are the basic steps to get you going:
1. Go to: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
2. Decide what the best category is for your business.
3. Enter your business/product/brand name and click “Create Page”.
4. At a minimum, you should enter a short description of your company and your website address. This is in the “Add Information To This Page” area. I’d also suggest uploading your logo as the profile picture.
5. Once you have entered in at least some information and a picture, click on your business name in the top left corner and then click “publish this page” to make it live and visible to others.
6. Then, from your new profile page, click “Add to my products”. This way, you become the first “fan” of your company .
Once you have set all this up, the fun part begins. Since you’ve become a “fan” of your business, your friends on Facebook (some of which are likely customers) will see a message in their home page. Something like “Patrick Bedford is a fan of Collective Clicks” will come up on their news feed. This will probably encourage some of your Facebook friends to befriend your business. Then, their friends will see a message, and so on and so on.
If you want to see a sample Facebook business page, you can check out Collective Clicks. You can even add Collective Clicks as a friend (once you visit the page, click on the “Add Product” link in the right column) to see what a page looks like from the customers stand point.

If you ask most SEO experts what the most difficult part of their internet marketing campaign is, most will tell you that it is link building. Link building is certainly not as easy as starting up a blog, conducting keyword research, optimizing pages on your site for search engines, setting up PPC campaigns, using social media sites, etc because all of these methods can be controlled. Other sites ultimately control what content goes on their sites and they have full control of whether they want to link to your site or not.
However, link building is certainly not impossible and if you put in the time and effort you can build high quality links over time. By high quality links, I mean links from reputable sites that contain your targeted keywords as the anchor text.
You can start by submitting your site to link directories which contain hundreds, if not thousands, of outbound links to sites from all industries. While these are back links that will be seen by search engines, they are not high quality links that will get you a first page ranking. One way to build valuable links is by building relationships with similar, yet non competing, sites and linking to their sites. By linking to another site, you are telling them that you like what you see and you are willing to refer visitors to them. This will likely result in them returning the favor, however it is certainly not guaranteed.
Press releases and article marketing is another good way to potentially build solid links to your website. If a press release is picked up by a few reputable online publications, it can generate some very high quality links to your site. Make sure that you optimize your press releases and include the proper links.
Other ways to build links that may be indirectly beneficial are YouTube videos, social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. and commenting on other blogs. Even though links from these sites will contain “no follow” tags (which do not help your search engine ranking), they may encourage another site owners to link to you if they like what they see.
The most beneficial thing that you can do to increase the number of links to your site is to regularly update your site and provide high quality content which will make people want to link to you naturally. Get to work!

There are millions of website and blogs out there that are full of both good and bad information. Anyone can create a simple blog and start talking about anything they like or dislike. This can lead a lot of false information and potentially harmful misrepresentation of your company. Web sites have emerged to expose bad dates and insult company representatives. These pages are certainly not what you want potential clients to see if they Google you. If maintaining a good name for yourself on the internet is important to you, you need to take a proactive approach to ensuring that the right information is out there.
One way to track what search engines know about your brand is to set up various Google Alerts. By subscribing to a Google Alert you will receive an email as soon as your search phrase (like your name or company) enters Google’s index. Google Alerts cover news stories, video comments, blogs, pages found in web search, and even Google’s own mailing lists, Google Groups. Popular search terms will give you a lot of results so make sure your keywords are targeted. If you do receive an alert about negative news or information about your company, you need to take action in order to remove or obscure this harmful site. In order to remove negative information, you need to try to generate a disproportionate amount of positive web sites, pages and content with your name attached. This process can take roughly 4-6 months depending on the situation.
Once there is negative information published about your site, you need to have a long term Online Reputation Management (ORM) plan laid out. You must constantly monitor and analyze your Google search results and take action to counter all of the negative online PR by producing a disproportionate amount of positive content thereby crowding out the negative PR across all types of online media platforms.

There are thousands of sites out there that offer tips and techniques for search engine optimization and high page rank. While there are many ways to achieve a good search engine ranking, here are 5 tips that will help you get started. Simply doing these basic things will certainly not get you on the first page of Google, however they will get you headed in the right direction.
1. Create unique META titles and descriptions for all of the pages on your site. Many rookie Webmasters forget to include META tags all together. Once they realize that, SEO wise, it is very important to include this information, they add the tags but they are not unique for each page. Each title and description should be specifically tailored towards each particular page.
2. Implement an simple HTML sitemap on your site. This is a page that contains links to all of the main pages of your website. If your site is small, you can include links to all the pages on your site. Sitemaps are important to search engines because they give them a central directory where their spiders can located all the pages on your site.
3. Target page-specific keywords in your sub pages. These keywords should be words that are not as highly competitive as your main keyword. Target various competitive keyword for your home page and then focus on less competitive keywords for your sub pages. Many Webmasters tend to get lazy and end up posted the same keywords on every page of their site. This could lead to a loss of valuable traffic to some of the internal pages.
4. Try to use BOLD, STRONG, ITALICS and UNDERLINE tags on each pages targeted keywords. This optimization tip is one that can be very valuable. Search Engines give higher priority to words that are using these tags which draw focus to these words. However, you don’t want to over do it with too many tagged words because then each keyword will appear less important to a search engine.
5. Consistently use H1 and H2 tags with your primary and secondary keywords. Search engines give a lot of weight to words with these tags. You should have 1 or 2 targeted keywords at the beginning of every page of your site.
These tips are basically a starting point for those that are new to the SEO world and should be implemented on your site before you move on to more technical optimization strategies. If you have not been following these basic tips, then you have likely been missing out on potential traffic.
