5 tips for preparation, writing and/or distribution of SEO press release.

1. Research keywords. Perform the research necessary to understand the correct keywords.

2. Use SEO tactics in writing press release. Use keywords to posititon the press release within online resources.

3. Make it interactive – the more elements in the press release, the deeper the connection with the audience and the more it can be linked back to.

4. Write the press release in the same way you would write any other online content – make sure it shows up when a user searches an engine like Google for related content.

5. Make it useful to the reader – don’t write an article just to market some product, service or company. Write something that people want to read, that educates and engages the reader. It may have its roots in marketing, but it needs to be compelling copy.

Websites success lies in SEO

The following are two dates in history that I feel held significance for SEO.

In January of 2001, Allan Dick became Vintage Tub and Bath’s general manager, and savior.  Mr. Dick was interested in, and began researching SEO opportunities for his company.  Since, implementing SEO techniques, Vintage Tub and Bath has increased their gross revenues by 1700%, turning them into the lead supplier of reproduction bathroom fixtures. This phenomenal increase came about as a direct result of SEO.  You can now find Mr. Dick speaking at Search Engine Strategy conferences.

In November 2005, Google implemented a 3-part update program which essentially changed the way websites are ranked.  First, the age of your site became pertinent to the ranking.  The older the site, the higher the rank.  Second, the history of your web pages would now play a role in the ranking of your site.  And thirdly, the way back links are counted had a part in higher or lower rankings.  The sites with longer standing links carried more weight than new links.  Google was attempting to get web owners to utilize their websites more efficiently rather than buying multiple sites and linking them.

I believe that Search Engine Optimization is an invaluable tool for businesses today.  The whole point of developing an on-line business is to expand your market and create sales.  Simply offering your name up as a dog groomer, along with a thousand other dog groomers, seems like a very hit and miss way of advertising.  SEO serves to raise the ranking of a particular website, therefore bringing in more visitors to that site.  This increased traffic volume is advantageous.  Building traffic to your website naturally adds up to increased awareness and increased revenue.  To sum it up, SEO gets the attention of the consumer and gives your business a much better chance of making the sale.

Candle company utilizes SEO

I have a struggling candle company.  You may have noticed, there are a lot of candle companies out there.  I happen to believe that my candles are special, so I want to build a website and sell them online.  Problem is that, although my candles smell fantastic…you can’t smell them through the monitor.  I have a fabulous website, filled with important information and beautiful pictures, but nobody seems to be visiting my site.  It’s clear that I need to use SEO techniques to get my candle company moving.  I must be ranked highly and be one of the first sites that my potential customers see when they Google “scented candles”.  Once I have their attention, I can make the sale.  Increasing the number of hits on my site is crucial to the success of my candle company.

I have created a scented candle company and want to build an on-line business.  I realize the importance of being ranked highly and how that can positively effect my success.  I believe that using an SEO technique, such as getting indexed would be a great place to start.  From there I would cross-link with complementary sites and of course utilize keywords within the site.  By putting these pieces together strategically, I think that I will have a greater draw to my site and, over time, build a higher ranking.  By attracting more visitors to my website, I hope to see increased sales.
