During the late 90′s, the Internet was ablaze. Users, contributors and regulators (such as they were) were struggling to wrap their minds around this fast moving force. The following historical milestones were pivotal in the development of Search Engine Optimization, a key tool in learning to work with, and through, the Internet.

1997 – The term “search engine optimization” is thought to have been coined. The creation of this term indicates the growing need for indexing and categorizing the exponentially growing amount of content on the Internet. Further, those who wanted to make sure to get their message in front of readers started employing both ethical and unethical tactics of search engine optimization to fight through the crowds for visibility.

1998 – Google is founded. In 1998, no one could have thought that Google would become such an important part of almost every Internet user’s life. It would become a verb, not just a noun. Google created algorithms to search for important and relevant content and bring that to its users. Google was able to circumnavigate some of the pitfalls that allowed other search engines to be tricked or tripped up on irrelevant information.

Twitter: What To Avoid

March 25th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Merely 140 characters long, Tweets still manage to reach across the globe.

When used correctly, Twitter is a great help for internet marketer’s; however, there are a few things to avoid. Remain pleasant! Do not tweet negativity into the ears of your followers, else they decide they don’t like getting bad news so frequently. Refrain from aggressive language, -  subtly compel your audience to make the choice of hiring your company’s services. Do not rush or limit the audience with your offers, just inform them and don’t talk down to non-followers. Do not Tweet inconsistently as this will cost you followers, and significantly impact your presence. Be active with your customers and do not neglect responses or inquiries posted to the account.

"A little bird told me" was taken seriously, until now.
