How Internet Content Writers can get ahead of the Internet Marketing Game

February 21st, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

As an Internet Content Writer it is critical to understand the ways of the Internet in order to market oneself for publishing opportunities, to find contracts, or to know how to reach the market you intend to sell to.

Internet marketing is also an important tool for doing research. A writer should have their own website and an understanding how SEO and SEM work.   They would have a great advantage in being more visible on the Internet.

Social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube also play a big role in reaching a specific audience or just getting exposure. This type of networking is not easily measured, however, but is still a good idea to stay connected with people in your field.

Internet Marketing Strategy for Collectibles Market

February 21st, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

I would like to create a business to sell mid-century collectibles. In the 70’s I would have had to open a store front and hope that walk by traffic would be interested in coming through the door based on print ads I would place in industry specific journals and local newspaper ads. I would also rely on local business networking as well as word-of-mouth recommendations. I might also try direct mail.  There would have been no Interent Marketing Strategy back then.

Today I could advertise that same business on-line and reach a global audience as compared to a local one. I could track my page views and the amount of times that the website was actually found and fine tune it to make it more successful.

The argument for Content Over Fluff – Creating A Great Website

February 21st, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Content is a website’s fuel. Fluff is what makes the site look pretty. When I purchase a car, do I buy it because the paint is nice and shiny? No. Sure, I want a car with a brand new paint job, but that’s not why I shell out thousands of dollars. It’s the nuts, guts and bolts of the car that I’m interested in.

Engine compartment.

The same goes for websites. The pictures, videos, links and pics are all great, but your content is what drives customers there and keeps them coming back. If you don’t have something unique, informative and entertaining to say, you may as well save the domain registration fees. So don’t get distracted by the bells and whistles; focus on content first.
